Just finished reading Rand's The Fountainhead, very intense book, but very good. She makes fun of a (female) socialist author (along with most of the profession of architecture) and, now that I read your Joyce quote, I think it must be Joyce she was making fun of.

Actually a better book than Atlas Shrugged. There was another great book Rand wrote about life in Soviet Russia. Can't remember it right now off the top of my head but I read it. And the characters in that book seemed real.
