The "under God" addition to the Pledge of Allegiance is what keeps it in compliance with the First Amendment. Without it, the pledge very nearly establishes the state as a religion worthy of worship. The recognition of a God higher than the state keeps the pledge down to earth.

The "under God" addition to the Pledge of Allegiance is what keeps it in compliance with the First Amendment. That is fine for you people who believe in one God, more or less. People who believe in none, or many, are deliberately and unconstitutionally left out
