...let's invent our own Indian tribeHow 'bout the "GuildHawks"...we ARE hawks, aren't we?
This little snippet from Jay Nordlinger in National Review:
My town newspaper printed a story about one of the co-stars of the new movie dealing with Navajo ‘codetalkers.’ He is an Indian (as in Geronimo, not Gandhi). He is also from Canada. The paper referred to him as a ‘Native American Canadian-born actor.’”
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Good Morning, Guilders. Or GuildHawks, or whatever we are calling ourselves today.
Hot and muggy in the midwest today. I've just come in from working in the flowers. After a brief rest, I will go back for just a bit.
To: Iowa Granny
Top o' the mornin', Granny. Don't work too hard out there. Here's some eye-candy to nourish you for your labors.

I've been reading the reviews of President Bush's "Yasser Must Go" speech yesterday and, I must say, I'm surprised at the unanimity of approval. No doubt we'll be treated to the nattering nabobs again...."It's been a month and you haven't solved the Middle East crisis yet!". But they've had to reluctantly give him credit for finally calling for Arafat's ouster. The MediaCrats will never acknowledge that it was Clinton who oversaw the establishment of the Palestinian Authority (after Oslo)...and it's left to Bush to undo the damage that move has caused.
I think it is now imperative to give this "process" time for the Palestinians to convince themselves it was their own idea to get rid of Arafat. (My bet, within a year, he's gone!) And I believe it's very likely this speech will go down in history with Reagan's "Tear Down this Wall" and FDR's "Fear Itself" speeches.

JL,
What is happening to FR today? It was down for a bit and so I went over to Yahoo. They were talking about the site being hacked with a Taliban message. What??????
Now, every time I refresh FR, I've had to log on. My cookies are enabled (peanut butter chocolate chip). ;-) And then the Cheese Hole kept returning "Cannot find server."
I've not heard anything from mini_t or T'cup. Have you?
Whose posts were pulled from the Billy thread??? Is it too much for people to be civil?
Looks like another early margarita day for me. Hahahahaha!
To: Carolina
Sadly, some people cannot be civil, they say (or type) whatever pops into their little ole heads.
I'll be joining you in that that margarita, I prefer mine frozen. (Running to the kitchen to hook up the blender)

Good afternoon - FR has definitely been wicky wacky this morning. I had a nice visit with Teacup and she sends her love to everyone. She's just back from the grocery and prepping lunch for the brood.
She'll be back on later.
Nothing new to report on the abduction: one law enforcement organization is taking it seriously eg stopping vans and questioning folks, while another thinks it's only a "custody dispute" and is doing nothing to help.
Teacup and Mini say thank you all for the calls, mails, prayers, and other assistance.
More as I learn of it. God bless you guys. JL

Make it three margaritas, please. I had enough time to read that thread this morning in disbelieve as those posts came up. To question a FReeper at a time like this is so unkind. To insinuate that a FReeper would be vindictive enough to do what they imply is ghastly to say the least. I hope those are the ones vaporized.
Had some time to stop between errands but must pick up son at summer school. I'll be fighting him soon for the 'puter. We told him that if he got an A that he would have 'puter privs restored. He has a 99.4 so far, so I'm doomed. But very happy, I think he's having a change of heart.
Back asap. :-)

Those of you who lack appreciation for PBS's partisan slant may appreciate this:
.... three out of four of Louis Rukeyser's old PBS sponsors have followed him to CNBC, taking away millions in underwriter dollars from PBS. Also, each of the three -- OppenheimerFunds Inc., A.G. Edwards Inc. and Occidental Petroleum Corp. -- has decided against signing up with PBS's "Wall $treet Week With Fortune," which debuts on Friday. PLUS: Rukeyser's female fans are really unhappy with PBS. WQED's programming director says: "A lot of women called and said, 'How you could take off my Louis?' "
source (Poynter)
My 77-year-old mother, a savvy investor, just loved the Rukeyser show when it was on PBS. It's where she got a lot of her stock tips. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't have cable and won't be able to see Lou on CNBC.
To: mountaineer
PBS seems to be making many stupid decisions lately. The latest being refusing to let Charlie Daniels perform "The Last Fallen Hero" on the up coming A Capitol Fourth holiday special.
Too bad about your mom, maybe you could get her a cable hook-up for Christmas. Just the basic though she so doesn't have to even accidently see any of the crapola on the rest of that bilge.

Oh, my! That picture #6 is so sweet - !!!!! And so heart-tugging! Where do you find these? That one is a keeper!

Hi there - going back and checking
the properties, it would appear that
I liberated it from COB1, most likely
on the USO Canteen thread. ;-)
Glad you liked it.
Teacup should be joining us as soon as
JohnRob mails her her account password.
Thanks to everyone who has called Teacup:
"I needed to talk to someone about adult things other than nickolodian or the Disney channel, LOL"
Perfect, since I know nothing about either. ;-)

While Bill was out fleecing the Indians, Hillary was doing her thing in Schenectady NY. Here is a local news account of a fundraiser she had there.
My favorite part is this - "The price of admission was $250 a head, after being knocked down from $500, at which level I am told there had been embarrassingly few takers."
Entire article here...
To: mountaineer
In one of the articles you posted, Bill said he was going to hang a gift in his "country home"...Now where is that? Arkansas? Or is he referring to Chappaqua? Evidently they are totally renovating the Chappaqua house and there is much speculation why?
To: daisyscarlett; *The GUILD
Afternoon Daisy - thanks for the news of the bents.
The best fundraiser stuff was algore's $25/plate
comeback dinner, imo. Thanks for your Teacup
support - as of seconds ago, still no word on Billy.
Again, she welcomes The Guild's phone calls,
emails, and thanks you all for your help.

LOL!
I'd forgotten my password. But I have the "remember this" box checked, so it got filled in for me. Whew!
To: Carolina
;-) I'm only smart enough for one password. Period.
Is there anything else going on in the world besides Billy?
