it brought back horrible memories for me too lol
with me it was reverse
I cried when she made me wear the brown lace-up oxfords
one time by a miracle they didn't fit
so my dad took me to Macys to return them
when we arrived at the shoe department the lady informed us they are boys shoes
(she had bought me brown oxfords with scuffs on them)

I hit the ceiling
''she wants me to wear boys shoes'' I screamed
my dad said ''we'll try to find you a more attractive pair
and you can have whatever you want as party shoes''
so I chose velvet pumps for my partyshoes
and forgot to be furious I had to wear uglyoxfords to school

LOL.. I hope to h@ll you had lots of parties.. I did, and had no party shoes that I would wear.. Even the black patten leather were clunkers..

Oh, and in order to appear "cool" with the the baglike uniform described above, one HAD to wear Bass Weejuns. Or Hush Puppies. Gack.

Needless to say, I had a hard time conforming to the fashion rules (and many other rules) associated with my high school. ;)
