Snoqualmie probably is an Indian name...lots of names around here are...names like Snoqualmie, Nisqually, Snohomish, Sammamish, Tillicum, Skykomish, Hoquiam, Puyallup, are all really very odd names, for towns and places around here, and I bet they are mostly Indian names...
Snoqualmie Falls is not really too far from us...a two hour drive, I expect...
The water at the bottom of the falls does look good for swimming, but swimming is definitely not allowed..Then above the falls, there is a lodge, which I think you can see in that picture...

When the air is clear, and the sun is setting, Mt. Rainier does really look that great 'pink' color, when the sun is slowly going down...when we are visiting Mt. Rainier Natl Park, we like to try to leave when the sun is setting, as seeing it in person is just breathtaking...
Snow is on top of Mt. Rainier year round...there are many glaciers on top of Mt. Rainier...if you visit Rainier in the late summer, when most of the winter snow has melted, you can see the glaciers...one thing about glacial snow, is that when you view it, it has a very distinctive bluish tint to it...
When you visit Mt. Rainier, before the winter snows have melted, what you see on top, is fresh winter snow on top of glacial snow...and it looks different from in the summer...the winter snow is very white, and very sparkly...
But whenever you visit there, its always beautiful...I just feel lucky living within a 2 hrs drive of Mt. Rainier...and when I cannot get up there, on a clear day, you can still see Mt. Rainier, even from here in Olympia, because its just do durned big and tall, and can be viewed from very great distances...

those Indian names are interesting
when I spent summers in Adirondacks as kid
we drove thru lots of towns in NY State with Indian names too
Neet's name Oneida, I thnk is town in NY State named for Oneida Indians
the other names for towns were Dutch, cause the Dutch settled NY State
I remember Canojoharie (sp?)
I think that is Dutch name
