Those bassets must get their sleep, its almost as important as food...

And they sure do snore...I think that barrel chest of theirs, makes them really prone to snoring...Helga sounded like a truck sometimes...she would sleep so deep, it seems, and just snore away...it was so cute...

Bully used to shake a lot too, just like Happy...he would be sitting in my lap, and I would be hugging him to reassure him, and I could just feel him shivering and shaking the whole time...I felt so bad for him, he was so scared, especially here on the 4th of July...

Fireworks are legal here in Washington state, and a week before July 4th, all the fireworks stands set up, and all the kids have fireworks....those are the legal fireworks stands...

But if you want illegal fireworks like firecrackers, and bottle rockets, and quarter stix of dynamite, then people just go down to the Reservations for that stuff...

And people can set off the fireworks, from the first day that the fireworks stands open, which is the week before 4th of July, and they can legally set them all off until midnight of July 4th, which is also when the legal fireworks stands must shut down...

And then there are always those that save some of their fireworks for a few days after July 4th...of course, setting fireworks off, the day after July 4th, ,the police will take away your fireworks, but usually by the time the cops are called, the kids are long gone...

So in effect, we have two weeks of fireworks exploding...quite nerve racking for lots of dogs...

same in Tucson, they either buy the fireworks at reservation or down in mexico (it is only 60 miles to Nogalles)
