Yesterday my server was down for six or seven hours, and today it is being reported that it was due to sabotage. Sixty-four Fiber Optic cables of Telefonica were cut at twenty points in four different geographical locations in Madrid.

This sabotage shut down all of northern Spain as far as Madrid. The damage, obviously caused by people who knew where to cause the most disruption, was all in high security locations of the company in Madrid.

The Internet, Airlines, Commerce, Banks, large sections of the Government and Universities were paralyzed. . Hospitals and Emergency services we not as affected . The Company and government authorities believe that this was done by Telefonica employees over a dispute with regard to out-sourcing many of the jobs now done by Telefonica personnel.

A similar act of sabotage but on a smaller scale was committed in 1999 over a labor dispute. There will also be a General strike on July 20th in which Telefonica will not participate or support.

Good morning NH! palo did sound like she was decelerating yesterday - but she was working her patootti off thanking all the donors with notes and pics, and generally spreading palo-love all over the Thon.

I'm trying to gear up and go abuse the moochers but my heart's not in it just yet.
Gonna be another hot, muggy, rain-free day here in Sodom on the Colorado.
See you around, I hope. ;-)
