Thanks for sharing that about your son and grandson. I did see a lot of marriages break up out at the drop zones. It was usually the guys wanting to skydive - a lot! -and the wives thinking that maybe they should spend a little more time at home with the family. Imagine that.

Stop shivering and put on your Fred Rogers cardigan sweater, Uncle Swervy.

I didn't know Idaho had a waiting period! I thought CA because you'd mentioned Sacramento, and with the waiting period to pick up your gun, I assumed.

Ray was so excited with jumping and being a soldier. It seems like every couple of weeks he was calling home...they were going on alert or some such....he just knew they would be put out over the jungles in Cambodia or Laos or some other god-forsaken place.
Then the big time came....he called, "this is it Mom, Dad, Sis....I love y'all...we're going". yeah, right. They went alright....they got to make a beach down in either Puerto Rico or Costa Rica a landing zone! He said it was ok being on the beach for the few days--but they weren't allowed OFF the beach...until it was time to be bussed to an airstrip to take off back stateside.

The dressage thing hasn't taken particularly well-with me...I do not have the patience for it...besides, these poor horses NEVER get outside of this silly little exercise arena...I've never been happy on a horse pokin' down a trail.
Now if you tell me there are a few pair of bad cows up in some canyon...the whole horse thing suddenly has new meaining.
My wife, on the other hand, is much more disciplined and is learning all kinds of neat stuff...while I just reinforce what I already know...sit and watch and drink beer.

Flash, I'll try to find a source so y'all can replace the statue. It isn't one that you see every day but I guess y'all know that. LOL.

We fly into CA and have relatives and friends there but have a little ranchito in Rowdee country. We'll drive to Idaho and spend two wonderfull weeks. Will take Rowdee out for beers and lies.
You probably are right...maybe Idaho doesn't have a waiting period?
To: Cuttnhorse
I'm pretty sure it doesn't. I was with my nephew a year ago, when he bought a .40. Took it home with him that day.

Okay, how about chasing down cattle nekkid except for cowboy boots, but it would need to be bareback for that sensual "Playgirl" kind of effect.

YOU saw a buff Burt Reynolds naked? I didn't.I'll have to lean on Swervie for help here, but as I recall Burt Reynolds was the original center-fold in Playgirl magazine and sort of set the standard. That had to be in the late '70s I'm thinking...Swervie??
To: Cuttnhorse
*LOL* It looks like SL would know.

I've found that the "ladies" find nekked cowboys in chaps particularly "interesting".

No, I can't say that I do. I've never had a Playgirl magazine, although I have seen a couple many years ago. Personally, I wouldn't want to see Burt Reynolds naked at any age.

Chaps huh? A bit odd, but to each his her own.

Bout them 'bad cows' up some canyon....the guy that has his horses here at my place last week was hired to go get a bull out of some creek-type area--lots of willows and brush. Was so thick he couldn't ride his horse in after the bull [I think his best horse is the mustang; the other one is more my speed], so he got down on foot and went in to see if he could locate the bull.
Suddenly there was some crashing thru the underbrush--the bull was trying to get by him and on to where the cows were...I still don't think he knows if he was jumping back out of the way or if the bull 'helped' him along.
Anyhow, in tracking and trying to get this bull, the horse pulled a shoe when they were going into the thicket after the bull--woven wire they were unaware of!!
Needless to say, he came home empty-handed. The next day, one of the McFarlands, and Roy and he went out again to get the bull. I haven't heard yet if they got it. Buck said he was an 'older, smarter bull'.....so, you would have probably 'eaten up' on that field trip!! LOL.

Hmmmmmmm......uh........er,......that's a tough call, sweet! I can't say as I'd agree with ya on that one. :)
It is my recollection that Burt was the original centerfold...I never got to see it though. :(
