Perhaps, but I don't think "failure to adapt to change" is a primary factor.
Granted, the "old days" of the Internet may have been more unmoderated and free-wheelin' and dealin', but there were also a lot fewer people online, and people could have intelligent discussion without need for moderators. Nowadays, there's simply a larger number of adolescent jerks online.

I dunno - I can think of a couple of things about the "good old days" that weren't that great - like when you'd spend 15 minutes composing a reasoned reply to a legitimate question only to find out later that the entire thread had been deleted because some bonehead couldn't keep his mouth out of the potty. The new system is certainly an improvement over that!

Then there was that group of twits who tried to bomb the forum with the scrolling picture of Jesus...and Eschoir, of course...and Toiletman, he'd have to have his own separate category...do I miss that? Only a little...
