If a dog is raised around all whites, and then a black person walks up, the dog WILL raise a fuss.

Yes, and this police dog had been trained in Europe.

I thought dogs were colorblind too, but why do they hate UPS Men? I had one dog and I have heard of others that hated the UPS Man. They ignored the Postman, FedEx, DHL, whatever, but the brown uniform seems to enrage them. Maybe their trucks smell funny.

Microwaving them is more permanent.

Dogs are color blind, but they have VERY discriminating senses of smell and hearing. Whatever distinction the dog made was probably related to one of those senses. In the case you mentioned, I am inclined to think it was a distinct sound, but something you or I would never be aware of.

And, doesn't stink up the house as bad.

I have noticed that too, whether the UPS guy is black OR white.

Mine love to fuss at the Duke Power meter reader too. Unfortunately, he is a distant cousin. That's just not very hospitable of them, treating blood kin like that

In the little town where Rowdee lives, the UPS drivers always have doggie treats and our Rotties love the guy. In fact, all the delivery folks, and garbage truck drivers carry little snacks. I could always tell when the garbage truck was heading in to our place because the dogs would go nuts.

Could be worse -- your dog could be a lover of all people's shins like my Grandma's poodle, Pierre.

Maybe Ratty wouldn't consider that "worse"??

They crank up their boom box AND the Playstation sound while pretending to race cars around the TV screen. They are quite athletic.

Thank God they are NOT amorous. They weigh about 70 pounds each, or so.

One of the fools jumped up at me the other day, while I was bending over to grab his water dish and re-fill it, the resulting noggin-knocker with the rascal made me see stars for a second or two. But he landed and went to his knees, so I guess he felt it too.

I have a friend who has a little Jack Russel terrier. That dog was raised around white people. I was with my friend in a parking lot of a business when several people came out of the building. That dog went into a frenzy of barking when two black people walked by, but didn't bark at anyone else. She told me that Jersey (the dog) always barks at black people! And I'm SURE that the dog hadn't been trained to do so. I'd never heard of such a thing before.

It looks like Chile has sent its recent earthquake cluster over to the coast of Nicargua.

Soccer is not played in the dirt - it is played on the top of the heads of brain-damaged progeny of Clintonphiles.

My sweet wife, an ex-RN, claims that Latinos are brain-damaged from way tooooo many head-soccer ball collisions, and that is why they are such dorks.

Ladies, please. You are guilty of the worst sort of PROFILING!

You are right. I am ashamed of myself, and stand corrected. I belong in a re-education camp, obviously.

Cool! They can have them! We had a small one yesterday that I see didn't make the list....my guess it was in the lower 4s. Everytime one hits, I can't keep from wondering if "this is the one that's going bring the whole place down?"

They are 70 pounds combined. Now I know. So do you. And they are wondering what just happened.

LOL---isn't that a hoot, Cuttn......my dogs just love the Idaho Power Company meter readers.

When John had Lemhi Sanitation, they would always toss out biscuits to the dogs when they pulled in to collect the trash...but the new owners men don't.

You'll die laughing to learn that the folks that rent my pasture for their horses bring doggie biscuits for my dogs....they were so thoughtful with Tess...because she wasn't a brazen food taker like Luv and Mandy but would hang back for her turn, Mary and Buck would always make sure she got hers--even if they had to walk into the yard through the gate. More than once they have 'scolded' Luv and Mandy for being so greedy in trying to take hers.

Things have changed....Tess is over the Rainbow Bridge, and because there has been so much rain with the grass going bananas in growth, they are drylotting their horses to lose some weight and Roy has stuck about 14 head of cow/calf pairs in to eat it down. :)
