An Open letter to Jim Robinson: Can the Bush-Bashers

Dear Mr. Robinson,

I have been a loyal member of the Free Republic since before the 2000 election. I have been a Conservative since the early days of Clinton. When I found this site, I thought "Thank God, people who think like me." I have continued to think this until the more recent days. Now, it seems that there are threads left and right bashing our President.

Why? There are things the President has done which I don't agree with but my loyality still lies with him. I am not sure if these "Bush-Bashers" fail to see the reality that with politics comes comprimise or it is something worse. I feel there is a cancer in the Free Republic. Some are eating their own.

I feel that some of these people are members of the dreaded democratic underground disguised as disgruntled conservatives. They are only here to stir up trouble. What's worse, they are doing just that. I am not sure what I think you should do.

As a conservative, I believe in our moral code but I also realize the reality of politics. I back our President but if he were doing something unsavory (like lying under oath,) I could not support him. This is unlike the left's clintonista dogma. What President Bush is doing is not betraying the conservative cause. He is using politics to confound the left. Those who do not understand this are either leftists themself or unable to separate themselves from their zealousness.

This is your show. You choose who gets to be a member and who does not. Those who break your rules are banished from the kingdom. I am not discouraging free speech, but this is free speech in your forum. These Bush-Bashers are brining us down. When this infighting happened in 1992, Bill Clinton got elected. let's not let that happen again.

Nah, most of us were kicked off probably by the same crowd who are bashing Bush. But we never thought that those who bashed Bushanan were real Bush supporters anyway. Looks like you are finding that out too.

This Bush bashing started after the Kristol fired the first shot. I believe you will find that those who agree with Kristol make up the bulk of Bush Bashers as they made up the bulk of the Buchanan Bashers.

I would not like to see the Bush-bashing threads end. I enjoy the intensity of the posters on both sides of the line. I think the bashing threads bring to the surface most posters true beliefs. I don't know any of the members of this forum, so I do not call any of them names but I don't mind seeing people insulting each other. I will call politicians names, as they are what makes up the government, especially career politicians.

I like this site! I think it is a good example of what freedom of expression should be.

That's not quite true. Unlike a few of the Bush followers here, that cruise from thread to thread regardless of issues to attempt to minimize ANY and ALL problems surrounding his administration, I usually gravitate to the immigration threads where I feel that we are being sold down the river by this titanic invasion of millions. My position on immigration is well known, and I feel is one of the most dangerous issues facing this great nation. But no, I don't run from thread to thread regardless of issues just to slam President Bush. I don't hang around in cliques and don't have a group of little followers.

Being a lowly " webbie ", I can only be on one thread at a time. It takes me forever to post / load / reload a thread. I can't flit from thread to thread; you do.

The Thought Police do not agree with my use of satire as a vehicle to present my ideas. So, score one for Big Guy and Rusty 99!

Rush Limbaugh often says that satire is sometimes better than reality at proving a point. Of course, the way Rush has been getting beat up lately, that's probably not the best person to have on your side (I'm on your side too, so that's a double whammy against ya! LOL). :-)

Satire is my best vehicle for demonstrating a point. I was careful in how I presented myself, not to cross any boundaries. But it was a satirical piece that demonstrated BG&R99's fallicious thinking.

The Moderator's pull of this thread is unacceptable to me and shows me there are great flaws in the current moderator staffing.
