I saw a story on TV this week, about a duck that built her nest in the lumber yard section of a Home Depot...so I guess this is not all that unheard of...

Many years ago, my boys and I went over to the local mall...we parked right next to a big light pole.....the light pole had a place, where there was a metal plate, that could be unscrewed, I guess to check the inside of the pole...well, that metal plate was missing....

And we notice a bird flying in and out of that hole in the pole...we looked inside and sure enough, that bird was building its nest inside the pole...

So once a week, whether we need to shop or not, we went back to the mall, to check on the bird and its nest...over the course of a few weeks, the bird completed its nest, laid its eggs, hatched the babies, the babies grew, and eventually flew away...

I guess birds will build their nests wherever they feel it is convenient for them..

Yes, birds will do that! We live out in the country, and birds have zillions of places to build their nests--but sometimes we find them in the oddest places--over the years, a fence post has been hollowed out at the corral--and the past few years, a birdie has built her nest inside it, despite all the activity around the corral! No accounting for a mama bird's real estate decisions!
