There was a study a year or so ago about how babies were more likely to be born healthy if conceived via monagamous sex (i.e. marriage). Apparently the woman's body, over time, builds up an immunity to the various agents in her husband's sperm, so that "foreign substances" don't become foreign eventually. Her body says "oh yeah we know that guy's work" and tolerate the sperm's presence, removing some complications from what's already a complex process.
