I will tell you a little story about my uncle who lived downstairs of us...he was so tight with a buck...I never saw anyone that tight...he hated to part with money for anything at all, whether to decorate his house, or buy nice gifts for his family or anything...I never knew him to ever take a vacation, and go anywhere...
When he retired, he still did not enjoy is money...just loved to save all his retirement money, and spent his whole retirement just hanging around the house...
That went on for several years and then he died, never really having spent any money...I guess for him, the joy of the money, was having it piled up in the bank, and looking at his bank book...
Now his wife, my aunt, got all the money...but having lived with him for so long, and being dependant on him for money(as she never worked), she also became a little tight with money, tho never as bad as my uncle....
Now she is 87, and lives in a retirement home...her money goes to pay some for that, but I am sure by the time she dies, there will still be a ton of money left, which my cousin will inherit...
So, I guess my point is, I think my uncle just enjoyed having lots of money, and got pleasure from that....but he never used that money to go anywhere, or do anything...to me thats sad...but to each their own..
