he is so sincere
sometimes it's a little much hearing how heroic his hero is
but I can't resist his ingenuousness
I just wish it were set on the desert of Araby
something fresher, and more interestin' than London

Book set in the desert in the 20's would be most un PC today.I read all the John Buchan novels, he of the 39 Steps fame, and lots of old fashioned bigotry and xenophobia in them.But hey, back in 1928, London was a happening town ;-)There are always the Eric Ambler novels set in Europe in the pre-war period, in Istanbul, Lisbon, etc...
