I didn't have to pay my husband's medical expenses. He had insurance from his work, and they couldn't drop him when he had to retire on disability, but because he was a dialysis patient, the state took over those expenses (I don't know why - it's some deal they have between the insurance companies and the state - after a year and a half on dialysis, the state takes over) and the insurance covered the remaining percentage and all other medical costs... he had so many complications and prescriptions for a few years, and then the failed transplant surgery and weeks in ICU, that I'm sure the total was around half a million or more, but I didn't have to pay any of it. Thank God.

I should have ended with a /sarcasm tag. I know full well the Dems will never allow themselves to be flushed out into the open like that. It's pretty telling that they've already started backing off some of their statements. Although their media lackeys are keeping the issue alive, the Dems know they would come out looking worse than Republicans in any such study.
Actually, I think the Dem are trying to get certain documents as part of their continued attempts to the bridge the separation of powers. They tried it with Cheney and the Enron hot air balloon, and now they're using the 9/11 tragedy to foster a Congressional power grab.

That is outrageous. It is the same sort of backward, bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo that some seniors face. They can't live on their social security alone but they aren't permitted to earn enough to live in dignity without losing their social security benefits. The social security they were forced to pay to so that they wouldn't have to live in poverty in their "golden years". But they are forced to live at near proverty levels to keep their social security.... They have to consider selling the home they've worked a lifetime for, possibly relocating and perhaps divorcing their spouse of many years. That is insane. CATCH 22

"This should be, ummm, entertaining..." Entertaining is hardly the word I would use to describe it, although I'm sure I could thinkof a few.

:). I thought you probably meant that post sarcastically. Interestingly enough I heard today on Rush Limbaugh's show that not one democrat uttered that stoooopid question, What did the President know.... It was the press that asked it. Apparently the ultra, ultra liberal Nina Tottenburg pointed that out on Inside Washington... If you can believe it, she supposedly said the press had gotten way out ahead of the story and ran wild with it. You're right, the dems began to back off a little over the weekend and today. I'll be curious to see how they all behave while the President is out of the country this week.

I believe the press ran with it so hard and fast because they got it directly as a leak from the Clinton machinery.

Yes, I agree. It frustrates them to no end that they can't run ruin the entire country.

Absolutely, the press was positively salivating and there is no doubt where that kind of rot came from. It was all too familar.
