My horse is an Arab, and tall for his breed... I have thought he would make a fine mount for Aragorn... he is Bay, like the one they chose for him. You can see him if you click the photo album link on my profile.

Did you see the story about how Viggo purchased his horse at the end of filming? He had not really been a rider before, but the whole group took riding lessons, along with their sword and archery lessons (there was a lot of homework for this movie!) and he got hooked on riding.

I continue to be so excited that they decided to ride Shadowfax 'at liberty'. It took a lot of extra work and training to stick with that detail, and they easily could have skipped over it without most people noticing. There aren't a lot of horses I would ride at liberty at a full gallop across an open field... let alone into a scary place like he is in the first shot.

I agree... there is not a really bad movie if it has pretty horses in it!

That is a fine, long-legged Arab! I assume you're an eventer, something I never managed to get into.

Viggo bought his horse! Well, I wonder if it's a stunt horse? Heard stories that you have to be careful how you ride them, because they know how to fall on command!

Even American Indians tied a latigo around the lower jaws of their ponies...They're not just galloping a horse at libertry, they're running him-with rider--among other galloping horses. And you know how exciting that might get...the stunt rider needs his own Oscar.
