As another correspondent noted, it's a photograph from space. (Taken by astronauts on the Space Shuttle.) Not to try and hide anything, it's a view of Paris, France, and environs. The reason that I called it geology is because of the particularly characteristic course of the river, which is obvious in this image and not as obvious in closer, higher resolution views of the city.

Thank you for the clarification. I thought maybe there was SOMETHING to see, like those halographic pics. You're right, the Seine does have a very interesting path. In the pic, the city around it looks more like molten lava than a city. Interesting.
