hi andysmom
your post brings back memories
yes that is xactly what the sprinkling bottle looked like
it was before steam irons
she used to lick her finger and touch the iron, if it sizzled it was hot enuf to iron

it must be hard on wimmin in the military that they can't wear the colors they feel like wearin' that day
I like green, but what if I wanted to wear pink or rose, and blue or violet
Love, Palo

Yes, now I remember also, that my mom would tap the iron with her finger, to see if it was hot enough...sure am glad those days are gone, when we had to iron everything, and then even without a steam iron....Ironing was an old day chore...

About women in the military and their various modes of dress....when my son was in the hospital, he was in a total of 8 months out of the 15 months he had leukemia...so we got to see so many army nurses and doctors and technicians...

Now the army nurses, who were working in the hospital, always wore their 'whites'...Occasionally tho, we would see them in their BDUs, like when they had to qualify in their PT(Physical Training) tests and the like...we were so used to seeing them in their medical whites, that seeing them in their army uniforms and boots was quite shocking....

More shocking, was sometimes they would come up and visit my son on their days off duty(He was in the hospital so much, that often they thought of him as more than just a patient, they thought of him as a sick boy, whom they loved)....and on their days off duty, they were be with my son, wearing their civilian clothes, having on more makeup, and having different hairdos, than they woudl have on duty....

Sometimes for a split second, I would not recognize a nurse, because I was so used to seeing her in her medical whites, hair pulled back, no makeup...and then on their days off, they would be in colorful clothing, new fancy hairdos, and lots of makeup...

Sure made a lot of difference...
