A little late, but hey.. I've been running in circles here.
The weather the entire weekend was glorious, warm, sunny, blue skies, and no rain...
On Saturday, we went to the Rosalie Whyel doll museum up in Bellevue, Washington...its a lovely museum, with one of the worlds most extensive collections of antique dolls...they were just beautiful, and I of course was in heaven..but they have much more than just dolls...they also have doll houses, paper dolls, antique toys, lots of miniatures, and something to please everyone...we spent several hours there, and of course, I had to visit the gift shop, where I made several purchases of new dollies, because of course, this was Mothers Day Weekend(As if I really needed an excuse to buy dolls)
After we left the doll museum, we headed on to Woodinville, and the Red Hook Brewery...we had a fabulous meal, and of course, lots of yummy beer(And of course, bought a growler of fresh draft beer to take home and enjoy at our leisure...
Then on Sunday, we headed out for Mt. Rainier...it was perfect....warm and sunny, as Westy has mentioned about our weather on Sunday...of course, going up in elevation, it quickly got chilly, and the snow was piled more than 20 feet high along the sides of the road...and once up to the tourist trap up at Paradise Center, the whole scene was just magnificent...Mt. Rainier, is always covered with glacial snow, but this early in the year still, it was covered with tons of new fresh snow from this past winter and spring snowstorms...the sight just takes your breath away....
We, of course, went to the tourist trap, and I got to buy some new Mt St Helens art glass globes to add to my collection, and both me and the hubby got some new cedar boxes in which to store our valuables...
Then we just sat in the parking lot up high, and took in all the sight...the mountains, the trees, and snow, well it was so wonderful....
Then we drove slowly down, stopping a various viewpoints, taking pictures, and soaking it all in...
Then we went into the Sunrise Campground and picnic area, and cracked out our picnic dinner of fried chicken, hard boiled eggs, potato chips, french bread and butter, and potato and macaroni salad...accompanied by lots of beer...that is our mainstay Mt Rainier dinner that we always take...we sat in the sun, next to the stream, and ate and drank, and listened to the stream, and conversed with the other picnickers and campers...
As dusk was approaching, naturally the wildlife began to come out...two young deer appeared in a field right in front of the campground, and they did not seem at all disturbed by the people..they just went about their business,of eating grass, and put on a great show for us all...finally we decided we had better go home, as it was getting dark and we still had a lot of driving to do before getting home...finally we arrived home at 10pm, tired from all that outdoorsy fun, and all that food and beer, but we went to bed happy and tired from our wonderful day...
Grannie, your description of yourself eating that lobster, just made me laugh...you sound as if you quite enjoyed yourself, and I am not even mad that I cannot get such great lobster out here...I love lobster, and I could almost taste it, from your description...I could just see Grannie, devouring her lobster, with a devilsh grin, and lobster shells flying everywhere...sounded just tooo yummy....
Palo, did Lulu and Happy give you a Moms Day kiss...Dizzy was ok, after our stint of leaving him on Saturday, but when we returned late Sunday from Rainier, he was mad at us...he would not let us pet him, or give him his favorite snacks...and he hid out behind the washing machine....then the hubby called me to see the bed in our bedroom, and I knew beforehand what he wanted to show me...I just knew that Dizzy had 'pooped' in the bed....he does that when we leave him for what he considers a too long time frame...he never does that otherwise...(thank goodness, his poop is always rock hard, and makes very little mess)
But by this morning, he was nuzzlng up to me, and I guess all is forgiven....animals have feelings I guess, and Dizzy had hurt feelings, so he retaliated by ignoring us, and pooping where he knew he should not
The son called and wished me Happy Moms Day...He himself was laid up with a bad knee injury incurred during a rough basketball game...so he is resting it, in hopes of its healing quick enough to allow him to venture out with his new undertaking of kayaking...
And that was my Mothers Day weekend...it was great...
Sounds like a winning idea. Your evenings don't cool down that much, do they? Here, closer to the coast, that would be the perfect dress for evenings around home because it can get downright chilly.
Bring back more swimming pool tales. Okay? You went swimming at just the right time - FR was down for 10 or 15 minutes.
Reminds me of Christine11.
Helga was a big boned basset, a big girlie, and she was quite weighty(all those fancy bakery cookies from her daddy helped along)....
The British do seem to like their steak and kidney pie...I think its quite a staple food fare over there in the British Isles...but I am sure anything meaty will be found to be quite tasty, by most dogs...
They did not do well on Saturday night. Chances are down to 5%....down but not out! Go Habs...till they play the Redwings....
Today, on the other hand is a full 30 degrees colder, cloudy, rainy and nasty...tomorrow is more of the same...hopefully they say, Wed and Thurs will be a little clearer and warmer...but then on Friday and Saturday, the cool air and rain returns....our weather changes very quickly....
This makes up for the eaglecam not working...
