The highway was Interstate 10....I don't know that it was ever called El Camino Real....I believe that is Hwy 101...and that is along the coast, if memory serves me correctly.

Also know as "The Christopher Columbus Transcontinental Highway" El Camino Real runs more or less north-south, I/S 10 runs east-west...
