I agree with all who loved the movie 'African Queen'...its just a wonderful movie...
And I also agree about how so many of the male stars of yesteryear, were so much more enticing and sexy, than the men we must contend with on the screen today....Bogie, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart(my moms favorite), were wonderful men on screen...My favorite movies with these guys...Bogie in 'African Queen', 'Casablanca' and 'Maltese Falcon', Cary Grant in 'Arsenic and Old Lace', and 'His Gal Friday', Jimmy Stewart in 'Harvey' and 'Its a Wonderful Life'...
Not only dont they make the men like the used to, they dont make great movies like they used to...
Seems to me the whole movie making industry has gone completely downhill...
With some very few exceptions, there seem to be no great actors, no great actresses, no great movies...
Its no wonder I have not wasted my money to go to the show anymore...I have not been to the movies since 1990...That last time, was when I took my mom to see 'Driving MIss Daisy', which I found to be a delightful film, with great acting by the late Jessica Tandy as Miss Daisy, and the wonderful Morgan Freeman as her driver...Now, theres a great actor for you, one of the few...Morgan Freeman...
I do love Anthony Hopkins today..and he reminds me so much of a friend of mine. He is a good actor in my opinion, and I will always watch a movie he is in.
I still watch that tiger "Duke", he was one of a kind.. Such a man..kind but tough. Yup, most of them out there today would not draw me to a movie theater.. Charles Bronson, Clint Eastwood, Gene Hackman, all good actors.. and at least looking and acting like real men.
Sorry this post was soooooo late.. I got waylaid by some weirdo on Im's.. I won't mention any names, Habs..
