So many people encouraged us to "get counselling" after Greg died, as if it was expected and necessary, like breathing and eating. I didn't do it. Oh Val .. the stories I could tell you of what these so-called professionals did to my mother after my dad died .. it's amazing she walked away half sane

Your family really had a rough go of it, Mo. Few people know how to really help or listen or just be patient, but that doesn't stop meddlers and predators from jumping in as "friends" or "experts" and taking advantage of someone else's tragedy.
At least your mother was spared this new "marathon therapy" trend.
Can you see any improvement in society for all the "good work" they've been doing to this past generation? Every time a school student dies, an army of self-important grief counselors marches onto campus at great cost... and? Then what? People cry? Kids ask "Why?" It would happen without them. The money would be better spent buying pizza and Kleenex.
