This is kind of interesting: Teacher in space

This woman, Barbara Morgan, was the backup for Christa McAuliffe, the teacher in space, when the Challenger blew up. I was acquainted with Barbara when I lived in McCall, in central Idaho. I played viola in the chamber orchestra, she played flute and violin (not at the same time!).

I thought it was amazing that they were still using the old list and hadn't recruited a new batch of teachers to pick from by now.
