The market is based on companies' FUTURE earnings potential. Yes .. IMO the future of many of these companies should be strong .. but right now I see a lot of nervous folks acting like jumping beans ..
You really think some of these companies don't play with their numbers???

I bring questions -- see #939.

That will only work if the WE who leave doesn't leave any of their freedom-loving WE behind - because the remaining WE just might fight and reclaim America and will not hand it over to the flotilla of refugees.
Within 5 years, the remaining WE would be applying to our Head of Immigration, the Swervie, for admittance.
I don't know how many times I have to tell you this, but SEPARATISTS are NOT REFUGEES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That may be the plot of Altas Shrugged, but the contrived characters were decidedly different than the patriots. Their self-worship is not comparable to the faith of the Pilgrims or Founding Fathers.
Is 'self-worship' a Leftist code word for 'Individualists?'
To: Servant of the Nine
Havenots who want to work will become haves once the trash has been taken out.
This IS getting scary.
I agree.
To: gratefulwharffratt
No, self-worship is the abandonment of God. Atlas Shrugged is an atheist's handbook.
To: ValerieUSA
You propose a more perfect separation, not union.
Actually, I propose to form a more perfect Union, separate from this subverted one.
To: ValerieUSA
Yes, the projected, anticipated future.... this is more true than statistics? It's a gamble. You have supported my contention. Value based on an anticipated future is called Capitalism. Is there another system you would prefer?

It's a gamble.
What, you think that profit in the market is guaranteed???
Bwahahahahaha.
If you start building a new house, you are taking a gamble that you will live to see it completed. LIFE itself is a big-time gamble.
I will grant you this much though, the people in Vegas have NOTHING on the market. Except better house odds.

I don't bring more fear to the discussion than you do. We have two natural instincts when sensing danger: fight or flight. YOU mentioned Zimbabwe. There is another supernatural response to danger: faith. But faith in what?
To: gratefulwharffratt
So why did you argue with me about the market? You are agreeing.

If a company is trading at 40 times earnings, then I don't care HOW strong the future looks. If I were an investor, that is. Traders couldn't care less about a stock's price, normally.
Just show me to the issues that have been consolidating for about three days, on a day when Greenspan says something negative about the upcoming economic climate... And give me an account with enough in it, to short those issues.

And inadvertently in that post, you also brought answers...
Despair is in the status quo - hope lies elsewhere.

I would rather not fight a war of the West against Islam - but we don't always get to declare our jihads. My preferences don't always fit into the given options. I do not have control of the world's response to me and mine. Does that mean I am not an individualist? Is individualism incompatible with realism?
To: ValerieUSA
No, self-worship is the abandonment of God. Atlas Shrugged is an atheist's handbook.
I haven't read the book, but you are the first person that I have ever heard say that.
To: gratefulwharffratt
There was nothing inadvertant in that post. I do believe KNOW that the present course leads to disaster. There's the projected future for the market America.
To: ValerieUSA

I sense no danger... for now.
My thoughts on establishing another place, are borne of disgust with the current situation, not fear.
And NOW is the time to be leaving, BEFORE things degrade to the point where you are afraid.
To: ValerieUSA
So why did you argue with me about the market?
You said it was a 'lie.' It is not.
To: gratefulwharffratt
The author was an atheist. Ayn Rand was also inconsistent. She demanded loyalty from her followers, not individualism. She only accepted like-minded folk, but didn't love any of them.

I would rather not fight a war of the West against Islam - but we don't always get to declare our jihads. My preferences don't always fit into the given options. Me too, and sometimes we are backed into a fight. That is not the fight Ratty and I are talking about. In addition to that there is a fight between the Collectivists and the Individualists in the United States. I think we have lost that fght. Our best option is to find another place to be.
