My screen name would be "the one". In fact I have some time before I go to work so I think I'll hop onto it for a bit, jump on in if you see this!

Well... I didn't see it till now... played for a bit then fired up the weed-wacker to do some land reclamation! - only taking a brief break from that now. One of these times!

I got on the server about 1:45-2:30 central and after about 20 minutes someone gets on and invites his buddies. They all spoke Spanish and they tried to vote to kick me. I presume that means "kick" me off the server. The vote failed and at least I got the satisfaction of fragging a couple from a hiding place before I gave up. That wasn't too enjoyable. It probably would be better to host a game as a server. That way we could flag a couple of people to this thread and you could post a time and a password to get on the server. That would keep the riff-raff out. These guys were part of a clan I think and they were serious frag experts. They were amazingly accurate and were always moving. I'm not in that league.....yet.

We could probably develop a ping list of Freepers and just ping them when a game is going to be run. It would take a while but I bet we could get over 10 people playing at a time.

Also, I believe I could run a server off my computer. I have a 900 MHz Duron with 256 Megs of DDR ram. I tried it once and it worked, I think. I'm still learning the ins and outs of UT which was made more difficult because there were no written manuals with my copy of UT Gold. :(

Hello - back from a stint at my local pub. So the server was taken out by trolls eh? well... too bad. I think hosting a game is most dependent on your internet speed rather than computer power. Cable or DSL works, I have done it...
Lets think about playing tomorrow night at say ~ 8:00 Pacific? Will that work for you? I will be out all day, but should be home by then. We'll find a good server and go to it. I can ping my brother, that will make three. He is dialup... so we can just let him find a server with a decent ping and we will go to that one.
To: HairOfTheDog
Ok, just let me know the server name and I'll meet you there.

Actually that sounds good. Tomorrow's a "pool" day so I'll be around. 5:00PM Eastern, 8:00PM Pacific works for me. I'll be checking the site so freepmail me. Ill also need to know which version you're on so I'll make sure I get all the patches. Thanks!
To: Yakboy
I think that would be 11:00 PM eastern. :)

DOH! My bad...long day sorry!
It's like "lunch math". A group of engineers can perform complex calcs and such all morning, but when we get the bill at lunch nobody can figure out the split! 11:00PM may not work for me. We're going to be outside all day and after getting fried in the sun I don't know if I'll be conscious.
Can you please let me know what server if I am awake, though?
To: Yakboy;Brett66;Ramius
We can try an earlier time! - I am going to be out all day myself and was worried about not being back in time if we did it real early... but
7:00 pacific (10:00 eastern) could be made to work.
My brother Ramius and I will go out and try to find a tolerable server for him (he is the dialup handicapped one) and then report back here before 7:00 with the server we are waiting in... How does that sound?
Is an existing empty Team Deathmatch server our preference this first time? Or a simple Deathmatch free-for-all game? Capture the Flag? (CTF is tough with only two per team)
To: HairOfTheDog
I'd like to try a team DM, but whatever you choose is fine. Just let me know.

I'm open for either. If we don't have many FFA is fine, the teams levels are awesome if we have enough though. I'll contact my brother and two of my buddies and see if they're going to be around. Thanks!
To: Yakboy
I'm still a newbie, what does FFA stand for?

Free For All - No teams, all out frag-fest. On the other hand, when I use the "flame-thrower" in Wolfenstein, there isn't too much difference between team play and FFA...

HI! - Brother and I have been out hunting, and found a server that seems to work for both of us... He is waiting there now.
Big Sky Net UT Server
Try that... it is a plain Deathmatch Server - for now!
To: Brett66
Well, by the time you got in there my ping had gone straight to heck... 1800 or something. ugh.
Gonna go back out and check out these two I spotted on my way out here....
CSHP] Wes1800][ - All Custom Maps
and
[CSHP] M4e|Clanserver...
If you see this while you are still playing... look for me there... otherwise, good game to you!
To: Brett66
That first Server should read [CSHP] Wes1800][ - All custom maps.... forgot my bracket!
