My scanner darkens my pictures, too (Or it did when it worked *L*) - I always made adjustments in paint shop pro afterward.

Sweet, Gosh, that one looks very familiar. I may have seen it before. If not, I've seen one very similar.

Ali Co and the crescent moon. Coincidence or something more sinister?

Crop. The sky is washed out white - not much to do about that simply, though a sky replacement is possible. I adjusted the histogram - leaving the dark and light controls the same, but sliding the medium tone control quite a ways to the light side. Then I adjusted the color balance slightly towards blue. Then punched the saturation, then the contrast was slightly increased, then I used unsharp mask.

That's it. I knew I'd seen it, Kauai is one of my favorite places. I'm Episcopalian and I may well have gone to services there. The first time I went to Hawaii I was a wide-eyed college freshman. Of course, it was very beautiful but I couldn't believe it was so commercialized. It just wasn't the Hawaii of my little Tennessee girl daydreams. That is until I went over to Kauai and it took my breath away. Since then I've been fortunate to see lots of magnificent islands but Kauai remains one of my favorite getaways.

That looks good, but the day was overcast and that feeling was captured on the original. My scanner program has settings to adjust color and exposure, and while it helps on some photos, on others I can't seem to get the results I want. Anyway, I may have to go get Paint Shop Pro this week. I do think I would like it better than the other program.

I am Episcopalian too and it always seems that some of the oldest and prettiest churches are Episcopal. Kauai is very beautiful and not nearly as commercialized as other parts of the islands, but there is still proportionately a great deal of wilderness land throughout the islands as well as areas that are less commercial. The Big Island is quite beautiful too, but Kauai definitely is my favorite.

I think this one is on Oahu. It looks like Diamond Head off to the right.

Israel's Security Requires a Sturdy Fence

The secret of a succesful fence is the same as of a succesfull bug zapper, sufficient amperage.
Either has got to have enough amperage to so char the intruder that it falls away instantly as ash and does not short things out. This fence needs enough amperage to do that to a small sedan.

This one is on the Big Island on the trail of Kahuna and Akaka Falls. Not all the pictures I took were dark and/or overcast, but between work hours and the fact that we were there when the warning was issued for Hurricane Daniel, there are a disproportionate number that are under those conditions. Still, they have a certain beauty too.

I may have to go get Paint Shop Pro this week. I do think I would like it better than the other program.

Before you do that, download a copy of Irfan View from:

It will run your scanner, help organize your pictures and let you make almost any adjustment you want to your pictures.

Hehehe Works for me. No doubt the Palis would lob rocks over the fence and then throw themselves up against it, screaming that Israelis and Amedricans are child murderers.

Mercifully Kauai and the big island still have some lovely undeveloped areas. I love the mountains on both but I'm so drawn to the beaches in both places. I'd love to have a house on one of them or a reasonable facsimilie beach. LOL. Talk about worthless but I'd be one blissful, peaceful, happy woman. FOFL.
