One Million Dads.com

GREAT NEWS! ANOTHER VICTORY! KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN, PIZZA HUT, AND TACO BELL SAY THEY WILL NO LONGER SPONSOR THE SHIELD!

OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com have won another victory! Earlier today the parent company Tricon Global called and said they would no longer sponsor the program. They asked that we please stop the e-mails! They got the message because you sent it!

When we get involved, let our voice be heard with all the other OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com, advertisers listen.

Thanks to those who sent the e-mails. Thanks for getting involved. Just think of what an awesome influence we can have when we get more participating!

So right now I'm urging you to send an e-mail to all your friends asking them to join OneMillionMoms.com or OneMillionDads.com. Ask them to take a stand for their children. Yes, we do accept and desire singles to participate.
Our growth will come only as our members encourage others to join and participate. So please help us by inviting others to become a part of OneMillionMoms.com and OneMillionDads.com today!

We have already thanked Tricon Global for you, so please don't send them any e-mails.

Have you poked through the OneMillionDrones web site? Interesting stuff. Almost cult-ish. The volkswagen link was interesting, especially with the obvious attempt at propaganda with it, calling it a "shocking statement" by volkswagen. Only shocking thing I heard in it was OneMillionDrones secretly taping a phone conversation, and making threats while calling them 'requests'. Just a bit more from their site:

OneMillionDrones encouragement of ignorance and mindlessness

Look at how their 'campaign' works. They send an e-mail out, you click and link and fire off a form-complaint letter. As Crappy proved, members aren't requested to make any sort of decision on their own about the shows content. No, just complain about a shows content that you've never seen, just because someone else told you it was "offensive". Best line of all: That's all there is to it! Why don't you take time to join today? Do it for your children!. Anyime you hear that overused cliche "Do it for the children" you know something is up. That is, if you're not one of the mindless drones who just point and click their complaints because they are told to do it.

Better yet:

Examples of 'offensive' programing the drones complain about

Saving Private Ryan????? They want that off the air? Yep, lets remove anything realistic from history because it might be "too graphic" for those easily offended. Guess what Drones, war IS graphic and horrible. It isn't something to be glorified and relished. Personally, I thought Saving Private Ryan did a good job of showing that WW2 was horrible.

Also humorous is their comments about the Victoria's Secret show. Women clad like "Las Vegas Showgirls". Guess they haven't been to the beach lately. Also funny was their shocked reaction to ABC's response of their complaints. In other words -- "Get lost, we don't care how you feel or what you think. Our business is to make money." Funny, good ole Crappy is claiming how they're merely "educating" the sponsors of their "freedom of choice" to sponsor a program. Yet here, they're not going after the sponsors but rather the network itself. Hmmmm. And, unless you agree 100% with them, you're evil.

But wait, there's more:

OneMillionDrones privacy statement

Interesting. They're so 'concerned' about what is being done with television, but yet you have to be a 'member' in order to be 'allowed' to support their cause. Why? And as for this privacy statement which pretty much amounts to nothing more then "trust us", remember these are the same ones who were secretly taping that conversation with the Volkswagen person. Same tactics used by marketing harvesters everywhere on the Internet, requiring the user to give personal information.

Their 'purpose' is an interesting read as well:

OneMillionDrones purpose stated

Some interesting quotes from this page:

OneMillionDads.com was begun to give dads an impact with the decision-makers and let them know we are upset with the messages they are sending our children and the values (or lack of them) they are pushing.

Lets see... the boycott called for The Shield was shown on Fox FX. A channel the viewer has to PAY to get. Show starts with a rating statement. Clearly not targeted for children. OneMillionDrones says it is. Also interesting the part about them "pushing" values. When Crappy doesn't like what someone says, he falls back to 'just change the channel' in reference to someone should just not read his posts if they don't like it. But yet if a household goes out and willingly purchases cable, willingly changes their television channel to FoxFX, and willingly continues to watch The Shield after the ratings warning, it's called "pushing" by OneMillionDrones. Obviously trying to avoid any personal responsibility for what they allow to be aired in their own households.

Our goal is to stop the exploitation of our children

Saving Private Ryan was an exploitation of children? Yet another absurd PR spin, attempting to hype up their cause.

As a member, you agree to participate in one project a week.

Definitely cult-ish. Not only (as Crappy showed) is it a group of drones being told what to complain about, you are also "required" to do so once a week. I guess it doesn't matter if you agree with stance of whomever makes these decisions or not, you are 'required' to do as they say or your 'membership' is revoked. Zeig Heil!

Help us recruit others who share our concern and are willing to get involved in the fight for the future of their children.

"Recruit" others?

Think of the influence we can have and all we can accomplish by banding together!

I thought the goal (as Crappy stated) was to 'educate' the sponsors so they'd have the freedom to choose to sponsor a program or not? Influence sounds more sinister. If the goal was truely to 'educate', logic and civility accomplish this. Influence?

More about Volkswagen:

OneMillionDrones spin on Volkswagen not wanting to be 'educated'

When we first received this response from Volkswagen concerning their sponsorship of the program, we thought it was good news. We could have declared victory and moved on. But it would have been a hollow victory. When looking closer at what Volkswagen said, it became clear that they were not necessarily ending sponsorship of the program.

Does this sound like a statement of someone wanting to educate someone into having a freedom of choice? Not to me. Sounds more like someone getting upset because someone would dare to oppose their personal views. Also, the word 'victory' is used quite often. That would imply a confrontation with a specific goal in mind, not 'education' or the light fluffy image Crappy tries to paint this organization (I'm starting to view it as a cult the more I read) as being. So, apparently the sponsor DOESN'T have the freedom of choice, if that choice goes against what OneMillionDrones wishes them to choose.

This non-commitment left OneMillionDads.com in a very difficult situation. We had asked VW to stop supporting the program completely. We did not ask them to stop supporting Boston Public for "the rest of this season."

Now sponsors have to "commit" to OneMillionDrones? Is this more of the 'education' and 'freedom of choice' Crappy keeps preaching about? Also, leaving the drones in 'a very difficult situation'. Why? You made your statement and Volkswagen made their decision. What is so difficult about that? That is, if this _really_ was about just educating the sponsors, rather then attempting to push your own political or religious agenda on everyone else.

Wanting to be fair with VW concerning this matter

ROFLMAO!

OneMillionDads.com is, as you know, a group of concerned and caring fathers trying to do what they can for the moral future of their children, and Mr. Fouladpour called them "meaningless." That should tell you a lot about Volkswagen’s attitude toward caring dads.

As opposed to an organization that requires people to give them personal information before being allowed to participate, secretly tapes conversations, has a membership that just complains about something they are told to complain about, and 'requires' a minimum of once a week participation, and talks about 'influence'? Oh yes, such a 'caring' group.

OneMillionDrones doesn't like what they heard from another VW rep either:

VW says, in essence, "If you don't like it, turn it off."

This arrogance is like saying, "If you don't like drunk drivers, stay off the road. Or, "If you don't like peeping toms, pull down the shades."

Remember, this is the OneMillionDrones saying this. Equating willingly watching a television program with drunk driving or peeping toms. LOL. Can you say "sensationalism"? But seriously, the disturbing part is that OneMillionDrones seems to have a problem with the concept of not viewing a particular television show you may not happen to agree with. To them, this idea of freedom of choice is not acceptable. In fact, we can see even more scary stuff with the above statement. They're implying that to just change the channel is the same as drunk driving or peeping toms. Why a concern? Because there are laws regulating and punishing those who drive drunk or engage in peeping tom behavior. Is OneMillonDrones implying that television should be the same way? Instead of allowing the individual to change the channel, there should be government sponsored punishment for those who broadcast something OneMillionDrones finds offensive? Remember, the same group calling Saving Private Ryan offensive.

Mr. Kamradt absolves Volkswagen of any responsibility, putting full responsibility on the shoulders of parents.

So, according to OneMillionDrones, the parent is NOT responsible for the television programs the children watch in their home. No, it's the sponsors fault! Lovely. More lack of any personal responsibility of parenting being preached, and attempting to project the blame onto someone or something else totally unrelated. So remember parents, if Johnny tunes into the Playboy channel in your house, it's not YOUR fault for letting him watch it. Oh no, it's someone else's fault!

Not believing Mr. Kamradt accurately reflected VW's official position, I wrote a second letter to the company.

He wasn't concerned enough to return the call.

Or, you were given the answer and you just didn't like it.

It is critically important that you take the following actions immediately! Without your support for the following, we cannot–repeat–cannot be successful. If each one will take the following actions, we cannot lose! The ball is now in your court!

Once again, the 'education' of sponsors to give them the freedom of choice in sponsoring a program is in action. I wasn't aware that expressing your view about something was a "win-lose" situation.

One other thing. This is very important! Help OMM.com/OMD.com promote this boycott by forwarding this letter to all your friends. Urge others to boycott Volkswagen!

Can you say "Chain Letter"?

Just to wrap it up:

OneMillionDrones kind enough to have a form letter on the site

They were nice enough to put a form letter on the site for anyone wishing to correspond with VW. Heck, they're even nice enough to fill in the content of the letter for you. Wouldn't want you to have to research it and make your own decision, after all. Also note, you have to cough up personal information in order to do this "for the children". The children apparently are only important if they can harvest personal information. Oh yes, 'trust us' that it won't be sold or shared.

But who says one has to fill out valid information? And, the letter is nice enough to go to the VW executives. And, one can always remove the text content, and replace it with words of encouragement to VW in not bending to this apparent cult bent on imposing their own views upon the masses. Just some food for thought. 8)

Re: Post #122. Looks like someone is on a campaign to get all posts deleted that expose him for the hypocrite that he is. I wonder who that could be?

Abusing the abuse button. Unbelievable.

That's just how some people play the game. Speaks volumes about them. Remember the socialist montra "Freedom of speech for me but not for thee".
