I have a prayer request today, for a man I barely know. On Friday morning, right before 8 am, I stopped at my local Shell station in the East Bay (NoCal) for some gas and much-needed coffee. As I was maneuvering to a pump, a police patrol car cut in front of me, and the officer ran in. I went to another pump, and after fiddling with my gas cap release for a minute, saw the officers taking out a raging, screaming man wearing a blood-spattered T-shirt.
I just missed being in the store part of the station by a couple of minutes.
Turns out he was a disgruntled former employee who had been fired a few days ago. The blood came from his victim - the manager of the station, Rex Clifford, who is in ICU in a Walnut Creek hospital. He was stabbed in the head and neck with a sharpened and otherwise modified Phillips screwdriver.
The perp is held in lieu of $3.6 million.
Please, I'm asking for prayers for Rex's complete recovery. He's a good guy, and really needs our prayers.
Thank you, and God bless.
