our tourist season is reversed too
hotels and resorts in Tucson used to close down in summer
it's only recently they stay open
but they reduce rates drastically
it is too hot to go outside here on desert summer afternoons
(unless you are in a swimmin' pool :)

I remember in that book by girl from Venus
first their ship stopped in Tibet where lamas fed them
and they stayed week in monastery
then they arrived in Death Valley
where car met them
and took her to Mississippi to start her life on Earth

that book by girl from Venus
was published by Officer in Air Force here in Tucson
(he is now retired)
who did research on UFOs for Air Force
it must have been labor of love
he typed it out himself and self published it
it is filled with typos and spelling errors
but is remarkable book
I found it in our Tucson public library

Happy is at vet
(hopefully) having his bandage removed from paw
Lulu cried her eyes out that she wasn't invited too
I told Lulu ''Helga did not enjoy going to the vet''
:)

Well, I had better go and get to trying to cook that nasty catfish....I cannot stand catfish...my dad used to fish the smaller lakes in the Illinois area..or he would take a jaunt to the Mississippi River and he always caught lots and lots of fish, many of them catfish....he never fished just for sport as he always brought all the fish home, and we had to eat them...I just ate so many catfish as a kid, I cannot stand it now...

But the hubby loves catfish, and bought himself some catfish filets at the store over the weekend...now he expects me to cook them...I am not a happy wife about this, but will still cook them anyway...I will return later, if I survive my bout with the catfish...

Hope Happy is OK...poor Lulu, she wanted to go with...some places are better to stay out of...Helga sure did hate going to that vet office...tho once she finally settled down, and Dr. Mike, as we called the vet, let her kiss him all over his face, she was a little bit happier...

those bassets sure like to kiss
Lulu tries to kiss Happy all over his face
and he won't stand it for a second

while potbellied pig was carrying on on table
which set Helga off
which is etched in my brain

Got held up on my fish frying episode, by an interesting article....need to go in a few minutes...

Poor Lulu, she got gypped on a walkie...you need to give her some extra Kraft Singles, and give her an extra belly rub, to soothe her poor little broken heart...

Yes, that was quite the adventure with Helga in the outer waiting room at the vets, screaming and baying her heart out, while the poor vet was trying to calm down a squealing and screaming pot bellied pig...being a vet requires the patience of an angel...

I worked with a womam who went to the same vet office that I did...and she was in love with Dr. Mike....Dr. Mike was a young, handsome, tho rather short vet, who had a grand sense of humor, a way with animals, and a way with the ladies...Helga and I both loved him, and judging from the crowd in his waiting room, he was dearly loved by many people and their pets...

No, Dizzy does not like fish at all...in fact, he wont eat any table food at all, and wont even eat canned cat food...he prefers the hard kibbly type of food he was raised on, and that is all he will eat...but he has special hard treats that I buy him, and they come in three flavors, tuna, crab and chicken...Chicken is the only one he will eat, and those he loves...I always have to keep a big supply of them on hand for him..so I just assume he does not like fish at all...funny cat...

NOW, I have to go cook that nasty catfish...see ya later...

your willingness to face catfish inspired me
I called dentist to make date for root canal
plus got out big batch of unpaid bills
opened them up and wrote out checks
bandage is off
but Bill has to put paw in solution in tub
we'll stop at Walgreens to buy solution on way back from pool
I think I'll buy myself a new pretty nail polish at Walgreens
I've been thru a lot :)

For the next "event," purchase hubby a nice propane deep fryer to go with the gas grill, and let him have all the fun, outside the house, where all the splatters and stench can be taken away by Mr. Wind. He'll feel Manly cooking his own catfish and hush puppies outdoors, done to golden perfection, and your kitchen will remain spotless. ;-)

Ah, such a good hint...but when hubby wants catfish during the week, he hardly has time to cook it...he works 11-12 hours a day...barely has time to go to work, come home, go to bed and get up again and begin it all over again...my womanly duties are to cook his dinner, so he can go and earn all that overtime money....however, should he request catfish on the weekends, when he has time, I will consider this alternative...

I sure wish I had served him hushpuppies, but alas, just serve fried potato wedges, and a great big giant salad...the hubby loves his salad, and always wants a big salad with his dinner...a big salad with about 12 ingredients...hes a salad lover...

I love hushpuppies...when we lived in North Carolina, it seemed no matter where you ate hushpuppies always came along with the meal...some folks dont like hushpuppies, but we love them...I know there is a mix out there for hushpuppies...I should buy it and give it a try...hushpuppies...YUM YUM

11-12 hour days! Yikes. I worked for a defense contractor, back in the day, and we had that option, which I took. I was single and living at home and all I could manage, after a few weeks of 12x7 was getting home, showering, eating a bite, and then crashing.

Mother would almost have to bop me on the head to get me going the next day.

Your guy is doing right by his family - suck it up and fry his catfish. (Perhaps a clothes-pin for your nose?) ;-)

Blackbird doesn't like my hat. He thinks that it is a rival. (Boonie style hat, curled sides.) The Whip-poor Will really does look like a huge moth when you flush him out at night. Kinda spooky at first, especially when some big brown thing floats across your flashlight beam at 3 in the morning. They also have rather large mouths for a bird it's size. (Look at a pic of a Frogmouth, and you pretty much have seen a Whip-poor Will.) The Bluebirds around here like to come out and flit across in front of you while you are bike riding. (Guess they like the 'rush' of seeing someone wipe out from having blue feathers up their nose..) Not sure where the western variety of Bluebird likes to be. Here, they pretty much live where-ever they like. (An old mailbox sufficed for one pair..)

We're not supposed to have ravens here. But there is a large, raucous black bird here that is much too large to be a crow. And he likes to sit in a tree and heckle me. Not unlike the catbird that chases my father's cat around. The catbird hops and flits from branch to branch just above the cat's head making 'jeet, whee-erp, nim! nim! nim!' sounds. the cat drops his head, holds his tail out straight, and walks along looking like he's grumbling. His name is NiMH. Perfect. Now all we need is for the baby otter to come back to the creek and decimate the perch again and we'll have a circus.
Well, let you go for now. Laters -Darksheare
