Gag. The bubble gum "metal" made me queasy. I once saw an interview with brett Michaels of Poison. He said "Nirvana killed my career."Ugh...no matter how much one may dislike the "pop metal" bands, they accomplished two things:And we are all eternally grateful to Kurt Cobain for that! :-)
1) They put a better class of music on the radio than would have otherwise been there.
2) They got a lot of other bands signed and released.
Nirvana meant the replacement of "Life's cool, let's party" with "Life sucks, let's pout". Not a good change, IMO.

Absolutely! I agree 100% and have been saying the same thing for years. The record company turned it's back on hard rock/heavy metal to embrace all of the gloom and doom suicide rockers (heroin junkies!). After that petered out, they focused on teen groups and hip-hop (C)rap artists. They have ruined country music, too (turning it all into pop!). The music scene has gone to sh!t and the record companies are still trying to force feed us with what they want us to hear/buy by strong-arming the radio stations (promos, tickets, etc. in exchange for heavy rotation of whatever crappy song they are presently pushing)...it's no wonder people are pirating music on the internet.
