What are some of your favorite comedy shows of all time?
For myself, I like Howard Stern's old Channel 9 show, Fawlty Towers, Police Squad, The Young Ones, et al. I'm sure other people have different ideals as to what they consider humorous....

The Osbournes(It's actually a real life look at Ozzy's family and life, but watching Ozzy try and solve everyday problems is hysterical)How could I forget this one (insert after The Simpsons)! The Osbournes had me in tears. Do you know when it's on. I happen to only catch bits and parts of it by just flippn' through the channels. It's great. The look on Ozzy's face is priceless when dealing with the household. A must see for Ozzy fans!

I think that show is News Radio.
It sort of fell apart after Phil was killed. They attempted to replace him with that extremely annoying comic who makes a lot of phone company commercials.

Great topic, Hellmouth. I laughed my butt off the first time I saw M*A*S*H, but didn't crack a smile the 2nd thru the 56th times I saw the reruns. Don't know why. So, I would have to say my choice would be Fawlty Towers without a doubt. I've played my tapes at least 20 times over, and I still laugh so hard at Basil and Manuel that I hurt myself.

I am pretty sure its Tuesday at 10:30. It replays a few times too, at all different times.
Last week, Ozzy was making fun of a camping trip his son had to go on. They had to offer the trees food before they ate, so Ozzy started singing "Kumbaya" and talking about "stupid hippy sh!t".

My favorite episode od Seinfeld was the Soup nazi one. The episode where Kramer has a living will made in case he falls into a coma was pretty good too.

Incredible. Over 126 posts, and only one mention of Lord Edmund Blackadder....

Great thread! I've seen about 50 of my favorites already listed, but didn't see:
- Mary Tyler Moore Show - great cast, all with perfect timing
- Too Close for Comfort - Ted Knight from the MTM cast
- Friar's Club Roast - only on sporadically, but some of the best put-downs from the old pros
- Dave Allen At Large - British skit humor, more cerebral than Benny Hill, but what isn't :-)
- The Rise & Fall Of Reginald Perrin - more offbeat British humor
- Rising Damp - only on a few episodes I think
- The Muppet Show - wall to wall funny
- Evening at the Improv - showcasing young comedians; was on in the early 80's I believe
- Bless Me Father - more British comedy (sensing a theme here)
Glad to see some mention of Good Neighbors, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python. Those old BBS imports were hilarious.

I have to agree that this show is one of the greatest. Which was the best character? My pick would be Floyd the barber. It was a shame when he got so sick and had to leave the show Yes. In fact both Andy and Don well of Howard McNeer. He was a funny man who often broke them up on the set.

I never heard of the Struthers Borthers
They were the two guys taking up all that space in Sallys mumu. I can't believe I wrote "Borthers" instead of "Brothers." Sheesh.

Steve Allen's "The Tonight Show" was, without doubt, the funniest TV program ever. Click on the following link to see all the comedy talent that passed through this show.

I watched "My World and Welcome to It" too and loved it.
I also loved:
a) Carol Burnett Show and all those great "skits"
b) that Sesame St. Variety Show (not sure what the name was, it was the one that came on in the early evening)
c) I know I'll get flamed for this one (grin) but I liked "Hee Haw" too :-)
d) I also LOVED the Laugh-In show
e) TV game shows like The Match Game were great fun too

Well I'm not a liberal but I always laughed at M*A*S*H*That doesn't make you a liberal, regardless of what anyone says. My two favorite programs were always "All in the Family" and "M*A*S*H".

The Carol Burnette Show was fabulous.

The live turkey giveaway episope of WKRP in Cincinatti That is probably one of the funniest moments on television.
WKRP was a consistently hilarious show. Ironically, the one episode I remember best one that one that was deliberately not funny. It was the episode dealing with the real-life 1979 trampling death of 11 people at a Who concert at Cincinatti's Riverfront stadium. The episode ends with Dr. Fever solemnly announcing the tragedy over the air and then silence. It was a very moving and powerful piece of television.
