The Missus and I had the pleasure of visiting Beauvoir and the Jefferson Davis Presidential Library yesterday. Admission is $7.50 and worth ten times that amount.

I drove over to Beauvoir in 1978 while I was at Naval Reserve training in N'awlins.
It was pretty run down at the time and I thought that was a terrible shame. I am really looking forward to a trip back now that she is restored to a condition suitable to the memory of this great warrior and patriot.

My retirement home will be a replica (albeit smaller) of Beauvoir. I have a large painting of the house in my office and a smaller one in my home. The architects are working on the final plans now. My main problem now is to find a suitable place for it. Maybe somewhere between Houston and Beaumont.
