...how was that legal?I'm not conviced it was.
The law says nothing about a candidate having to be "alive" on election day. But it does say he has to "reside in" the state. Now, neither you nor I believe a dead man "resides". But the Dims said (I'm not kidding), since his grave is in the state, he's a resident. Nobody was going to take on the widow, so they got away with it. Even so, when a Senator is appointed as opposed to elected, that person's term only runs until the next regular election cycle...no one can be appointed to a 6 year term.

If you follow the Dems' logic, because I own a burial plot in Houston, I can "reside" there even though I "live" in IL. Therefore, I shouldn't have to pay IL state income taxes. I wonder what IL would think of that logic?

And I guess that's how the Dims justify to themselves having all those dead people voting....
"Hey, they're residents, too!".

Speaking of dead people...Just when I think things couldn't get any more deviant, they do.
I just read in the local paper that a new crime trend in America (and locally) is "cemetary theft". People are actually stealing statuary and marble headstones from old cemetaries. It is conjectured that these then get sold as garden art. Isn't that stunning?

Good grief - that's enough to make me go take a good hot shower. Please have something uplifting, fun, or scandalous up in the interim. Thanks, JL ;-)

Good and uplifting? I'm watching "On Golden Pond"...will that do? We just passed the part where the boyfriend spends all this time trying to get Norman's approval to sleep with his daughter while they're at the cabin, and Norman gives his OK....then says, "Just don't let Ethel catch you!". LOL!

That is one of my all time favorite films. The music and photog are stunning and the story is fantastic. I still cry every time I see it.

Here's a heads up. LIZA will be on LKL Weds night. She will interrupt her honeymoon in London to appear on his show....LK had Russell Yates on tonight...pathetic, simply pathetic.

Former Vice President Al Gore is shown with his beard in this Aug. 11, 2001, file photo and on Monday, March 18, 2002, in Nashville, Tenn., without. (AP Photo/Mark Humphrey, File, John Russell)
