I'd like to be on the ping list again.

The Breaking of the Fellowship was a scene that I thought actually improved on the book. The fighting was inspirational, though as a whole the sequence was unbearably tragic. Still, it managed to end with a ray of hope.

Did I see right that Borimir was carrying around (I guess for firewood) what looked like rotten wood?

I agree that the end of the film was so perfectly done. The fall of Boromir - jeepers... sorry for bogging us down with pics, but I just can't say this in words....

"Be at peace, son of Gondor"

Aragorn stole my heart (like he didn't have it already), and Legolas, and Gimli ripped it out when they came on seen and saw what had happened... Not a dry eye in the house.... Penny's pics of this scene

In the book, of course, we don't have this yet. But this is a much better stopping point then a starting point, so in that way I am happy with the way PJ jumped ahead a bit in the first film.

I don't know if I'd agree, necessarily. I think each version was good for the medium in which it appeared. That is, I think the movie version played better *in a movie* than the book version would have; but I'm not sure the movie version would have been better *in a book*, than the book version.

Uhm, am I making sense? :)
