I would place my bet that the battle PJ is talking about is the Rohirrim attacking the orcs that had carried Merry and Pippin off.

But that scene is essentially in the book, right, so that wouldn't be a change?

I really think it is the Ent attack on Isengard. I've seen some "footage" of this.

But, you can't go wrong with battles. I kind of like them.
