We had a bat living in our attic vent. We'd see her hanging there when we went up to the attic, but it was on the side with no flooring, so we couldn't get a close look. We called her "Aunt Batty."
A couple of months ago, I moved some things to that side of the attic and got a close look at "Aunt Batty." She was dead.
She was also a leaf.
Morning All!
*groan* heh heh.
Did you break it to your kids?

I can hear the bats squeaking during the day (from the outside...I don't hear them from inside the house) and they drop guano on the steps. At least guano is easier to clean up than bird poop. I want the bats...they eat mosquitoes. Just watch out for the rabid ones!
