First off, I went with my mom and dad and an older couple that goes to my folk's church (S. Baptist, ya know). The band was playing in an Irish pub, you know... Anyway, the food came and my dad blessed the food for the nourishment of our bodies right there in the pub.
The music was great, the whistle player (my aquaintance) did a great job and I could have just got up and did a jig right there. My swedish husband didn't so much as twitch a muscle, bless him. He had very little interest in it, and I appreciate that he took me!
The boys were naturally the only kids in the place, but everyone was kind to them and they even sat on the step near the band and listened, much to the delight of the drummer, who grinned at them broadly. (They were very well behaved and got heaps of praise on the way home.)
I had corned beef and cabbage with a slice of very rich chocolate cake that I shared with Steve and the boys. The cake had a dollop of "Bailey's Irish" whipped cream on the side and it was the first time I've tasted that in over 10 years.
I wish Steve had enjoyed it more...I doubt if he'll take me again, but oh well. The last "date" we've gone on was our anniversary last December...and the one before that was our anniversary 3 years ago! It was fun to get out, even with a party of 8.
