My brother has the audio tapes of the books (they are very good) and I've been listening to The Two Towers starting with the Taming of Smeagol (of course) Anyway, I've just finished listening to that part you mentioned. It was excellent.

It's a gift of sorts to Frodo and Sam, I think...

Right before they must enter Mordor, they have a short break to gather their strength emotionally and physically (Faramir provides them with dried fruits and such). I am so grateful to Faramir every time I read that they are eating the fruits! LOL

(I know, I'm silly and get really wrapped up in the books! By the time they reach Mount Doom, I'm ready to sleep for 2 weeks! LOL)
