Another thing that overwhelms me in this chapter is the maturity of Pippin. It's a far cry from the young hobbit sitting in the tub singing a bathing song. It is Pippin that saves the life of Faramir. There is this young hobbit, giving commands to Beregond and seeking out Gandalf.
What a good man the fires or trial reveals in Pippin.

Don't cha just love the little guy? He may not be out getting a piece of the Nazgul Lord, but to me saving Faramir is more important. He's just as brave as Merry at the Last Battle when he stands beside Beregond on the front lines and gets his troll.

Yes, this is truly Pippin's finest hour.
Good morning everyone! I'm just now sitting down with coffee and a coddled egg. I'm at the point where Faramir first meets Frodo in my reading. From the picture I've seen from the movie, it should be a great scene. I especially like the part where Sam stands in front of Faramir and tells him that if he thinks Frodo killed Boromir, he's got no sense! And the Men standing around smiling at little Sam, who is standing face to face with a sitting Faramir.
