My MIL moved in to our house to die, with FIL, when she had cancer. It took months, was very hard on the family, tho the rest of us got thru it OK. There was times when I really struggled with it, tho I think I was mostly helpful. My wife still misses her mother alot, even 9 years later, but she's fine.

I guess it was the right thing to do.

I think it was! Whenever possible, that is how we should all wish to go. At home, cared for by family. My dad brought his dad home to die too. He had Lou Gehrig's disease, and we didn't know if it would be weeks or months or years. Dad worried intensely about it, worried while it was happening if he could handle it, but now knows he did the best for his dad.

Men are funny... They worry more than women do about what might happen if the worst happens! And we think wimmen are the emotional ones!
