Perhaps a new award is in order: Best Ensemble. I must give in to the liberal touchy-feely "everyone's a winner" mentality and say that singling out the actors in a work like this is not only impossible but diminishes the performance as a whole. Much of the power in each role is the chemistry between the characters.
I'd like to see PJ get a Lifetime Achievement for the three films- there will never be anything like them again. Ever.

The British Academy does have a "Best Ensemble Cast" award, which FoTR won, I think. It was a tough movie to award for acting. There is no real lead, it really was a group success... though in my mind Elijah qualifies as the lead actor in FoTR. FoTR really is Frodo's story. But I guess he didn't stand out enough to qualify for the Actor nomination.
