Yeah... That is the rub. None of Gollum's facial expressions will be Andy's. Andy may have inspired the expression with his own, but the result is not him. It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

The only other example I can think of is the movie "The Mask". That was highly CG oriented.... but it was Jim Carry's face, and his acting, I think... Movies are magic these days, and it is really hard to know what you are seeing!
