I suspected maybe a more confused Aragorn would justify a bigger role for ArwenThat's what I think too. I think they're pushing her role as the supportive, stand-by-your-man type woman.
What kills me is the rumor that she HELPS him use the Palantir to stare down Sauron. If that's true...that's totally uncalled for.

Both Arwen and Eowyn were strong women but they didn't 'take over' the books. Guess it's more PC to have them loom larger.

I agree with you and newCenturions on maybe using the conflicted (maybe that is a better word for Aragorn than maturing into kingship) Aragorn to playup Arwen. I think it is uncalled for. Liv Tyler makes a beautiful Arwen, but she is being forced into the scenes and she doesn't belong.
