I could let him be the judge of that! - Should I ping him? ;~D Ramius.... Rosie is writing a story, and her character just got broken into, and she wants to know what he would likely do. start at 39550

OT - It is a feeling you can't predict until it happens to you, knowing that someone has been in your house. It is disturbing and scary, armed or not.

So I went up there to let him share it... mourn the loss of his stereo, keep him company so he wasn't checking the windows all the time, and sleep with our guns...

My character also has the added fear of knowing that they didn't get what they were looking for, and that they will probably realize he has it with him.

I think I've got him settled, but I'm certainly open to suggestions!

Hey there...

Yes... my break-in was really disturbing, being the first time that had happened to me. At first it was unnerving because I wasn't sure that they were gone.

The first thing I did was check the guns, and take one. The second thing I did was call 911 to get a sheriff on the way. The third thing I did was to sweep the house and make sure they were gone.

I would absolutely *not* have left the house. More to the point: The most overwhelming feeling was not so much fear as it was the cold offensiveness of some stranger having the *gall* to actually enter my house and pick through my stuff. It was a massive violation of "my space". The thing I wanted to do more than anything else was to defend my home-- even though it was after the fact. There was a twisted part of me that was even hoping that they would come back. I knew better, though. They were long gone.

It took the sheriff 20 minutes to get there.
