"Be on you guard...there are older and fouler things than Orcs in the deep places of the world"

US backers of the latest Lord of the Rings movie have asked for its premiere in New Zealand to be staged in daylight rather than at night because of heightened security fears following the deadly Bali bombings.
Plans for a night street carnival to celebrate the launch of the trilogy's second movie, The Two Towers, have been abandoned because of terrorism fears, organiser Mark Blumsky said.
A daytime street party will be staged instead, to lessen security concerns. US and other stars will be whisked from the area as soon as the early evening premiere screening ends, he said.
"The Americans have come through saying they're actually not happy now having a big night function," Blumsky said of the December 18 local premiere.
"They're just a bit concerned about security at night with all the stars milling round with all the people.
