Was his alternate identity kind of his opposite, i.e. eeeeevil? Was that how come he had to kill 'im?
I wish I was less sensitive to the fact that I'm writing crap. I mean, I know the point is to finish, but I can help hating the stuff. I guess I can burn it on December 1st, though. ;-) And we can laugh about it.
Not exactly. They "both" work for think tanks in DC. One is a starched white shirt conservative, the other is a granola munching liberal. He travels back and forth between both realities via the file folder.* "Both" are working on a huge national issue. Everything is fine until both are invited to appear together on Larry King live. He panics and (thinks he) has no choice but to kill off one of the personalities. Then he's arrested for the murder, but there's no body.
He's not completely in this alone and there is a way he can communicate with "them" (I don't know who "them" is yet, or how he communicates), but he doesn't hear from them and panics, taking matters into his own hands. Then they cut him off...or so he thinks.
I'm thinking the final chapter is him in the jail cell waiting for trial. His lawyer shows up (actually a "new" lawyer he doesn't recognize). The lawyer says "you need to review this file,"...then we get to "Episode II." It's sort of a Quantum Leap type thing, but with a few different twists...
