Speaking of biscuits.....I think Tokien got the lembas description all wrong. If it's a thin cake it would be either still "cakey" or "chewy". The only way it would be crisp is if it was baked well past the golden brown stage.

Lembas is described as a thin cake, but when Gimli takes a bite, Tolkien writes that he "bit off a crisp corner".

Crunchy on the outside, cakey on the inside is my guess.

Unless they aren't really like cakes, but more like something else.

I discussed this with my younger siblings and THEY say lembas is kinda like those wafer cookies but without the icing layers, and thicker than that. Like oversized, thick, slightly sweetened communion wafers. I don't know - I just get more confused everytime I try to really imagine it!
