I can't figure that out. Or you supposed to carve out the black or the grey or what?

The only way I'd ever get a pumpkin to look like that is if a scotch taped the pattern to the front of it! LOL!

Beats me! I think you cut out the black part... but don't ask me about what to do with the grey! maybe for the grey you are just supposed to remove the skin.
