I have that EXACT conversation with the Mrs. on a nearly weekly basis.

She once scorned me quite badly by stating "That's fantasy, dear...this is reality".

I was crushed.

Some people just don't get it, do they?

I've tried for years to get her involved in it..."Read the book...then you'll understand fully!", I'll say. No dice. Good thing I'm persistant. LOL

Actually, he is reading LoTR right now and he's watched the movie with me on two occasions, so there is hope here too!!!

I figure by the time he's done with the trilogy, he'll be hungry for more, so to speak and will be just excited about an entmoot as I am.
